Women's Basketball Drops WHAC Contest to #8 Davenport

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Siena Heights (4-5, 0-4 WHAC) women's basketball team traveled to take on No. 8 Davenport in a Wolverine-Hoosie Athletic Conference contest on Wednesday and dropped the contest 71-61.

Scores were traded throughout the first half with the Saints recording their largest lead of the half, at seven points on a made three-pointer by Jaaliyah Arrington with 7:35 left in the second period. SHU entered halftime with a tied score of 29-29.

To begin the third period DU knocked down a three the gain the lead and never looked back. The Panthers stretched their lead to 10 in the third period but the Saints were not finished. With 8:13 left in the fourth quarter, Clara Waidley nailed a three-pointer and cut the DU lead to just two points. The Saints did not have enough to grab the lead.

SHU was led by April Watson, recording her fifth double-double of the season with 23 points and 13 rebounds. Ashley Perry was the Saints' second leading scorer with ten. Sharmaine Wills recorded a new career high with 12 rebounds and Azalea Miller fininshed the night dishing out six assists. 

Courtney Murphy led Davenport (7-1, 4-0 WHAC) with 15 points while Jenna Falkenberg pulled down 10 rebounds. 

The Saints will be back in action on Saturday, Dec. 3, when they travel to take on UM-Dearborn in a WHAC match-up. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.
