Watson Named WHAC Newcomer of the Year; Arrington All-WHAC Honorable Mention

Siena Heights women's basketball junior forward April Watson was awarded as the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Year while junior guard Jaaliyah Arrington was named to the All-WHAC Honorable Mention Team, as announced by the league on Wednesday.

Watson transferred to Siena Heights, making the 2015-16 season her first with the Saints. She was also named to the All-WHAC First Team and the All-WHAC Defensive Team.

After starting all 29 games she made an appearance in, Watson finished the regular season with 405 points, 266 rebounds and 60 blocks. She ranks first in the WHAC in total blocks and second in blocks per game (2.07). Watson also ranks second in field goal percentage (168-314, 53.3 percent), ninth in points per game (14.0), fourth in total rebounds and rebounds per game (9.2).

Watson leads the Saints in points per game, blocks, field goal percentage and rebounds.

Arrington scored 373 points, averaged 12.4 points per game and totaled 57 assists, starting all 30 games the Saints played during the regular season. She ranks sixth in the WHAC in made three-pointers, 72 of 223. For the Saints, Arrington ranks second in points per game.

Freshman guard Avery Chezem was named to the WHAC Champions of Character Team.
