Watson, Arrington Efforts Propel Women's Hoops to Victory

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's basketball team finished in a comeback fashion to defeat Aquinas 68-61 in a conference decision, on Wednesday.

The Siena Heights Saints left for halftime leading over the Aquinas Saints 33-28. AQ responded, putting SHU in a three-point deficit going into the fourth quarter.

Siena Heights finished in a dominating fashion, out-scoring AQ 24-14 in the fourth. April Watson scored 10 points with 4:47 remaining on the in the fourth quarter. Jaaliyah Arrington took the lead for SHU, scoring seven points in the final four minutes of the game.

Watson lead the Saints with a double-double, 10 boards and 20 points, and put-down eight blocks. Close behind was Arrington with 19 points and four assists. Azalea Miller and Lauren Wirth finished with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

For Aquinas (7-19, 6-13), Tyra Williams finished with 23 points. With a double-double, Anna Omness ended with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

As a team, Siena Heights shot 26-55 (47.3 percent) from the field, 5-12 (41.7 percent) behind the arc and 11-24 (45.8 percent) in free throws. AQ finished 20-63 (31.7 percent) on the floor, 7-27 (25.9 percent) from three-point land and 14-24 (58.3 percent) from the charity stripe.

This game against Aquinas will be shown on the Buckeye Cable Sports Network (NW Ohio/SE Michigan) tonight at 11:30 p.m. on BCSN and BCSN Erie. It will also be shown on BCSN 2 at 5 a.m. tomorrow, Feb. 11. Check here for local listings.

Next up, the Saints (16-11, 11-8) will host their Annual PINK game, and least regular-season home game. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, following a 3 p.m. junior varsity contest.
