Women's Hoops Drops Contest to Alma

ALMA, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's basketball team fell to non-conference opponent Alma in a 66-61 decision on Monday.

The Saints started off strong, leading going into the second quarter 14-11.

The Scots  went on a 25-8 run in the second quarter, taking the lead 36-22 into halftime. Alma kept the lead for the remainder of the game. 

Jaaliyah Arrington lead the Saints (12-9) with 24 points. April Watson added a double-double, 13 points and 12 rebounds. Ra'Shawn Calvert also added 13 points and three steals. 

For the Scots (5-10), Tara Padgett put-up 20 points. Kassidy Blough and Sophie Guzman both finished in double-digits with 13 and 10 points, respectively. 

As a team, Siena Heights shot 21-51 (41.2 percent) on the floor, 5-15 (33.3 percent) behind the arch and 14-24 (58.3 percent) from the charity stripe. The hosting Scots finished 23-52 (44.2 percent) from the field, 9-21 in three point land and 11-18 (61.1 percent) from the free throw line.

Siena Heights will be back in action on Wednesday in a 6 p.m. conference game against fifth-ranked Davenport, at home.
