Women's Basketball Unable to Contain #20 LTU

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's basketball team was overwhelmed by 20th-ranked Lawrence Tech in a 72-57 conference loss on Saturday.

The flow of the game went back-and-forth -- in favor of the visiting Blue Devils before the Saints went on a 9-2 run, gaining a five point lead. A last-second layup by Christina Henry gave Lawrence Tech a 31-30 lead going into halftime.

Siena Heights fought back, keeping the score close. They left the third quarter trailing, 51-47.

The Blue Devils (14-1, 11-1) took over in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Saints 21-10.

Ra'Shawn Calvert was the Saints' (12-7, 6-6) leading scorer with 16 points. April Watson followed close behind with 15 points, seven rebounds and four blocks.

For Lawrence Tech, Henry finished with 23 points, 11 coming from free throws. She also had 11 boards. Jazzmine Brown had 17 points.

Overall, the Saints shot 20-55 (36.4 percent) from the field and 12-17 (70.6 percent) from the free throw line. The Blue Devils finished 22-53 (41.5 percent) from the field and 23-36 (63.9 percent) from the charity stripe.

The Saints will be back in action againt non-conference opponent Alma at 7 p.m., on Monday. JV women will play at 5 p.m.
