Career High for Arrington in Victory Over Aquinas

Grand Rapids, Mich. -- Jaaliyah Arrington led the Siena Heights women's basketball team with a career high 22 points to help bring the Saints to a 71-51 victory over Aquinas in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference game, on Wednesday.

Siena Heights opened the first quarter strong with Arrington making a three. She also made the last basket in the quarter giving SHU a 16-10 lead to end the first.

April Watson led the Saints offense in the second quarter with six. Aquinas outscored SHU 18-16, in the second quarter. AQ had 12 points from the charity stripe to cut the SHU lead to four.

Siena Heights was able to hold Aquinas to only seven in the third. Arrington made four three's to lead SHU on the 21-7 run. 

Aquinas (5-13, 4-7) came out and scored 16 points in the fourth, but it wasn't enough to hold off SHU.

For the Saints, Watson finished with a double-double, 20 points and 14 rebounds. Ra'Shawn Calvert finished with 15 points and four assists.

For Aquinas, Tyra Williams had 16 points and eight rebounds. Katie Theut had 10 points.

Overall, the Saints shot 26-63 (41.2 percent) from the field while Aquinas shot 12-54 (22.2 percent). 

The Saints will be back in action on Saturday when they host No. 20 Lawrence Tech for a 5:30 p.m. WHAC contest.
