Women's Hoops Suffers Loss to #8 Davenport

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's basketball team dropped an 88-51 decision to eighth-ranked Davenport in a conference contest, on Wednesday. 

Jaaliyah Arrington was the leading scorer for the Saints with 20 points. April Watson put up 12 points for SHU and grabbed eight rebounds. 

DU's Lauren Brower hit two 3-pointers during an 11-2 run for the Panthers early in the second period. Davenport (6-2, 5-0) extended its lead to 40-27 by halftime, cruising through the rest of the contest.  

For the Panthers, Lauren Brower scored 14 points after hitting four 3-pointers and a jumper. Alex Law scored 13 points (four 3-pointers and a free throw), while Chri Carter dished out seven assists for Davenport. 

As a team, Siena Heights went 18 of 65 from the field (27.7 percent), including 6 of 17 from three-point land (35.3 percent). The Panthers were 27 of 62 from the field (43.5 percent), including 12 of 26 from behind the three-point line. 

Davenport outrebounded SHU, 52-38.

The Saints (4-4, 1-3) will be back in action when they take on Marygrove at home, on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
