ADRIAN, Mich. -- Mackenzie Tomasik and Sierra Calhoun compiled double-doubles as the 20th-ranked ranked Siena Heights women's basketball team overcame a slow start to defeat Aquinas, 66-50, in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinal at the SHU Fieldhouse on Wednesday.

Tomasik finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds while Calhoun contributed 14 points, 10 rebounds and four assists for two-seeded SHU (25-9), which battled back from an early 12-point deficit.

Alexxis Knannlein fell one board short of a double-double herself as she came through with 11 points, nine rebounds, four steals and three assists. She also had one block, increasing her school-record block total to 49.

SHU trailed, 18-6, before enjoying a 25-6 stretch to close the first half. That stretch began and ended with 10-point streaks. Knannlein and Tomasik put in six points apiece during the outburst, which culminated on a buzzer-beating three-pointer by Jaaliyah Arrington.

In the second half, seven-seed Aquinas (11-20) closed its deficit to six points before SHU enjoyed yet another decisive run -- this time a 14-0 stretch -- which finished on a Morgan Warfield trey that widened the hosts' gap to 48-28. SHU held on to a sizeable lead the rest of the way.
