Arnold's Double Helps #18 Women's Hoops Overcome Sluggish Start For Win Over AC

ADRIAN, Mich. -- Jessie Arnold had a double-double, totaling 10 points and 13 rebounds, as the 18th-ranked Siena Heights women's basketball team overcame a sluggish start to claim a 48-38 non-conference win over cross-town rival Adrian at the SHU Fieldhouse on Monday.

SHU's leading scorer, Sierra Calhoun, finished with 12 points and four assists. Alexxis Knannlein and Najee Brazzle contributed 12 and eight rebounds, respectively, while Ebony Harvey dished seven assists.

Siena Heights (17-5) trailed, 15-6, but then closed the first half with a 13-1 run -- the beginning of a 21-3 stretch bridged across both halves. Morgan Warfield buried a pair of 3-pointers during that 21-3 streak, helping the Saints to a 27-18 lead.

Visiting Adrian (6-12) pushed back and reduced its deficit to 35-30 on Jasmyne Owens' layup with 8:24 remaining. The Saints quickly responded with an 8-0 charge, including six points from Arnold, to put the game away.

SHU finished 16 of 59 from the field (27.1 percent), including 4 of 26 from three-point territory (15.4 percent). The Bulldogs were 13 of 57 (22.8 percent) and 1 of 14 (7.1 percent), respectively. The Saints held a 55-39 rebounding advantage.

Siena Heights will be in action again on Wednesday with a 6 p.m. home Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest against Indiana Tech.
