Softball Drops Pair at Trinity Christian

PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. -- The Siena Heights softball team lost both ends of a non-conference doubleheader against Trinity Christian on Thursday. The Saints lost by scores of 5-4 and 8-0.

SHU (7-9) will play next on Saturday when it hosts its WHAC opener against Indiana Tech at 1 p.m.

 

Game one: Trinity Christian 5, Siena Heights 4

Game two: Trinity Christian 8, Siena Heights 0 (5 innings)

Ellie Thelen (double) led the Saints with a 3-for-4 game, an RBI and a run scored.

Julia Hogston (double) added two hits. Sydney Hazlett and Courtnee Chappetta also had doubles. Hazlett scored twice.

Shyann Truax was the starting pitcher, allowing four runs on nine hits while totaling two strikeouts and two walks.

The Saints pulled into a 4-4 tie after trailing 4-1 through six. Chappetta and Thelen had RBI doubles during the three-run seventh.

Trinity Christian scored the winning run with one out in the seventh.

Hogston had an RBI single for SHU's first run in the second.

SHU was no-hit in game two.
