Saints split a pair ending the 1st half of their spring trip

MELBOURNE, Fla. -- The Siena Heights softball team split a pair of contests at the SpaceCoast Games on Tuesday

SHU will return to action Thursday with games against Fort Lauderdale and Roosevelt.

 

Game one: Siena Heights 8, Fisher 0 (5 inn.)

Winning pitcher Riley Hoover threw a five-inning no-hitter, totaling five strikeouts and one walk.

The Saints scored five runs in the first, one in the second and two in the fifth.

A two-run double by Sydnee Hazlett highlighted SHU's first inning. Emma Marshall had an RBI single while Eva Curtis and Ellie Thelen collected RBI.

Thelen had an RBI single in the second and Hoover and Avery Schellenberger had RBI singles in the fifth.

 

Game two: Mount Marty 2, Siena Heights 1

Courtnee Chappetta had two hits, including a double.

Shyann Truax allowed two runs on nine hits while totaling two strikeouts and two walks.

The Saints took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on Chappetta's RBI single. Mount Marty scored its runs in the second and, then, in the seventh in walkoff fashion.
