Saints Softball Teams Up with HOPE Community Center for Kickball Game

The Siena Heights Softball Team spent some time playing kickball with members of the HOPE Community Center on Wednesday night.

In what has become an annual fall event, the softball team will host the HOPE Community Center and split the two groups up into two teams for a fun filled spirited kickball competition.

The HOPE Community Center has been providing services for adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities since their inception in 1976.  HOPE provides the environment for HOPE Members to be themselves in a safe and supportive environment.  The provide unique and meaningful opportunities in education, recreation, socialization, and volunteering for people with disabilities.  The programs include things such as daily living skills, adaptive fitness, community outings, volunteer projects and technology based learning.

HOPE Program Director Katie O'Hotzke said, "Thank you to Siena Heights Softball for hosting our annual kickball game.  Both HOPE and SHU softball hold a special place in my heart.  It's awesome to see everyone enjoying an evening together and participating side by side.  These games are something that the HOPE Members and the Siena athletes will always remember, and we are fortunate that this has become a fall tradition for both organizations."

Siena Heights Softball Coach Laura Klutsarits added, "This night is a great event for the HOPE members as well as for our student-athletes.  It is great to see the interaction between our students and the members, there is always fun and laughter and entertainment.  As important as it is for the HOPE members, it is doubly as important for our student-athletes as well.  We are grateful for the opportunity to continue to partner with the HOPE Community Center each year and create this wonderful experience for our student-athletes and the HOPE members."
