Softball Opens WHAC Play With Two Losses at CUAA

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The Siena Heights softball team played its first two WHAC games of the spring, dropping 2-0 and 5-0 contests to Concordia on Sunday.

The Saints (3-16, 0-2) are scheduled to play again on Wednesday when they host Lourdes for WHAC action at 3:30 p.m.

 

Game one: Concordia 2, SHU 0

Siena Heights pitcher Shyann Truax threw six innings, giving up two runs on five hits while striking out four. She did not walk a batter.

Maddie Herrera led the Saints' offense with two hits.

Concordia scored its two runs on a two-run homer by Katie Tobias in the fourth. Winning pitcher Paige Anderson gave up six hits and recorded six strikeouts and one walk.

 

Game two: Concordia 5, SHU 0

Ally Frank had two hits while Courtnee Chappetta and Ellie Thelen smacked doubles in the nightcap.

Aila Johnson started in the pitchers' circle, working the first four innings. She had four strikeouts and three walks.

Riley Hoover fired two perfect innings of relief.

The Cardinals (22-8, 2-0) took the lead with two runs in the first and tacked on one insurance run in the third and two in the fourth.
