SYLVANIA, Ohio – The Siena Heights softball team split the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) doubleheader at Lourdes on Wednesday night at Grey Wolf Field. The Saints (13-10, 2-4 WHAC) fell in game one 3-2 before taking game two with a 7-4 result.

Game One: Lourdes def. Siena Heights, 3-2

Kat Moreau (2-for-3) recorded two of SHU's three hits in game one. Moreau also crossed the plate once to put a run on the board. Lily Guerra (1-for-2) tallied a hit in the early contest. Kelsey Uhl started in the circle for the Saints in game one. She pitched 6.0 innings while allowing five hits and one earned run. Shyann Truax (L, 4-2) pitched 0.1 innings in relief and gave up the winning run in the losing effort.

Both teams were left scoreless through the first five innings of the game. However, the Saints broke the tie in the top of the sixth inning when a dropped fly ball allowed Sam Hill and Moreau to score for the 2-0 lead.

A throwing error by SHU spotted the Grey Wolves their first run in the bottom half of the sixth before a triple brought a second Lourdes baserunner home to tie the score at two runs.

Guerra led off the top of the seventh with a double to left field to put herself in scoring position. Unfortunately, she was held in that position as the Lourdes defense escaped the inning with the score still tied. A single to right field with a runner on third allowed the Grey Wolves to take game one in the bottom half of the final inning.

Jordan Green (W, 6-3) pitched 6.0 innings to earn her sixth win of the season. Green surrendered ten hits and four earned runs while striking out 10 Grey Wolves. Uhl (Sv, 2) earned her second save of the season as she closed out the game with a one-strike out seventh inning.

A throwing error on a sacrifice bunt scored Chappetta and Guerra to put the Saints up 2-0 in the second inning. A run scored in the bottom half of the inning for Lourdes to cut the lead to 2-1.

The Grey Wolves tied the score in the bottom of the fourth with a double down the left-field line. Siena Heights responded with five runs in the fifth. The first came on a single through the left side by Uhl that moved Chappetta to third base and scored Hill and Moreau to double up Lourdes, 4-2. Spicer then walked with the bases loaded to bring Chappetta home. Pena then singled to center field to score Guerra and Uhl, anSaints'aints' lead extended to 7-2.

The home team rallied with a run on a double to left-center in the bottom of the 6th-inning. The Saints allowed the second run in the inning to get out the runner moving to second base, but SHU escaped the inning on a strikeout to stop the rally short and hold on for the win.
