Softball Splits on Day Two at Hannibal-LaGrange

HANNIBAL, Mo. -- The Siena Heights softball team split in the second doubleheader in as many days against Hannibal-LaGrange. Game one went to the Saints 4-3 before the Trojans earned a 3-0 win in game two. Kelsey Uhl led the Saints in hitting with two and two RBIs in game one. She also pitched the entire first contest to earn the third win of 2021.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Game 1

Maddie Herrera walked in the opening inning to bring Lily Guerra home for the 1-0 lead. The Trojans scored three runs in the 2nd-inning to pull ahead 3-1. Uhl smacked a two-RBI double in the third to tie the game at three runs before Guerra brought in the game-winning run in the fourth with a double.

Game 2

Hannibal-LaGrange took an early 1-0 lead when an error by the Saints allowed a runner to cross the plate. Two more runs in the 4th-inning extended the lead to 3-0 and the Saints failed to get on the board before the game ended.

TOP SAINTS

Hitting

• Uhl was 2-3 in game one to lead SHU in hitting for the game.

Julia Hogston was also 2-3 in game one. She also scored a run in the game.

Sam Spicer, Haley Rose, Herrera, and Tori Harding each had a hit in game one.

Sam Hill, Guerra, Spicer, and Herrera each had a hit in game two.

Pitching

• Uhl (W, 3-1) allowed nine hits, three runs, and struck out one for her game-one win.

Jordan Green (L, 2-2) gave up two hits, three runs, and struck out four in the game-two defeat.

Kiley Elbaor pitched two innings in relief. She surrendered three hits and had a strikeout.

• Three Trojans tallied two hits in game one. 

• Sydney Newell led with a hit and an RBI.
