Siena Heights softball player Kelsey Cherry was named a 2017-18 Google Cloud Academic All-America , as announced by the CoSIDA on Thursday.

The outfielder is a nursing major with a 3.86 GPA. She finished third on the team with 37 hits in 107 at bats for a batting average of .346. Cherry also tacked on 22 RBI's, including two home runs on the season. 

The Google Cloud Academic All-America College Division Softball Team produced an average GPA of 3.91 with the first team combining for an average GPA of 3.97. The team includes eight student-athletes with 4.0 GPA and two graduate students.

In order to be eligible for this award, the student-athlete must maintain a minimum 3.3 GPA on a 4.0 scale, have reached sophomore status, and compete in at least 50 percent of the team's contests. This award recognizes student-athletes for their combined performance athletically and academically.
