Fifteen Softball Players Honored By WHAC

The Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference released their softball awards on Tuesday night with 14 Saints being honored.

Highlighting the Saints honorees were two 1st Team All-WHAC honorees in Kyndle Wolfinger and Hannah Bleikamp.  Wolfinger has had a season which rivals some of the best in Siena Heights history, leading the Saints with a .466 batting average, 68 hits and a school record 51 runs scored.  Bleikamp finds herself second on the team in batting average (.389) and leads the team with 17 doubles, good for 2nd in SHU single season history.

The Saints had three players selected to the 2nd Team All-WHAC in Kris Forest, Kenya Keller, and Megan Jones.  Forest leads the Saints in RBI (46) while Keller (35) and Jones (30) come in 2nd and 3rd respectively on this years squad.

A league high 14 Saints were honored for their work in the classroom, being selected to the Academic All-WHAC team.  The 14 honored were Ashley Best, Lauren Best, Bleikamp, Kelsey Cherry, Skylar Crenshaw, Lesley Ducat, Hailey Fox, Ashley HelminkKatie Hybl, Jones, Keller, Kelsey Lampkowski, Jessica Sierak and Wolfinger.

The final Saint honoree was Lauren Best who was named the Saints' Champion of Character winner.

The Saints open up WHAC Tournament play on Wednesday night at 6 pm at Pacesetter Park in Sylvania, Ohio.
