Softball Climbs into the NAIA National Poll

Softball Climbs into the NAIA National Poll

The Siena Heights Softball Team is receiving votes in the most recent NAIA National Poll.  This is the first time the Saints have received votes in the national ratings in roughly 21 years.

The Saints are off to a 20-4-1 start on the season.  They sit atop the WHAC with a 5-0-1 league mark early on in conference play.

The Saints saw two of their losses come to the #4 team in the country, Marian (Ind.), another one of their losses came at the hands of an NCAA Division II school as well.

This week, the Saints will face a big test when they host the #7 ranked team Davenport in a WHAC doubleheader on Sunday.

Currently, the poll has Siena Heights with 21 points in the ratings, good for the 31st team on the list.  The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences and the Association of Independent Institutions.  The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams.  A team received 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second-place and so on through the list.

The NAIA National Poll occurs bi-weekly, with the next poll due out on April 18th.
