Softball Goes 1-1 on Day 1 of the WHAC Tournament

SYLVANIA, Ohio -- The Siena Heights softball team split the first two games of the WHAC Tournament on Thursday. SHU defeated Concordia 1-0 in game one then dropped a 6-0 contest to No. 13 Davenport.

Kelsie Abbott threw a complete game against the Cardinals (31-16), earning three strikeouts. Kelsey Cherry sent Abbott home in the top of the third to score the game's lone run and earn the upset. The hits were at an even six for both teams in game one.

In game two, Lesley Ducat threw all six innings for SHU. Davenport's (37-10) pitcher Emily Maves threw 15 strikeouts on the way to a no-hitter to earn the win.

The Saints (27-23) will continue to pursue the WHAC Tournament title and take on Madonna. The must-win contest starts at 2 p.m. on Friday at Pacesetter Park.
