Abbott Leads Softball in All-WHAC Honors

Sophomore utility player Kelsie Abbott earned First Team All-Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference honors while four Saints earned Honorable Mention All-WHAC honors, as announced by the conference on Wednesday.

Juniors Lesley Ducat and Kenya Keller, along with sophomores Kelsey Cherry and Kris Forest were named Honorable Mention All-Conference.

Abbott had a successful for the Saints in the circle, in the outfield and in the batter's box. While pitching she went .500 (7-7) and struck out 63 batters in 92.1 innings. She had an ERA of 4.29 with an opponents' batting average of .275. She also earned two shutouts.

Abbott earned 33 put outs and 25 assists while fielding. In the batter's box, Abbott's batting average was .421 with 56 hits in 133 at-bats. She hit six triples, 15 doubles and one home run for a .647 slugging percentage, scoring 34 runs and sending home 46 runners.

Fellow pitcher, Ducat led the Saints with a 3.44 ERA and a .500 (11-11) record. In 154.1 innings, she earned 70 strikeouts with the opponents' batting average at .275.

Keller helped run the infield this season, grabbing 77 putouts and 75 assists. She led the team in stolen bases with nine and scored 30 runs for the Saints. With a .310 batting average, she earned 45 hits: four triples, two doubles and five home runs to push 28 runners across the plate.

Outfielder Cherry earned 28 putouts and one assist. In the batter's box, she averaged a .323, scoring 14 times and sending 18 runners home.

First baseman Forest led the team with 280 putouts and 14 assists with a .983 fielding percentage. She hit .366 on the season with 49 hits and 32 RBIs.

Siena Heights had seven Saints honored as All-WHAC Academic: Megan Jones, Kelsey Lampkowski, Hannah Bleikamp, Kyndle Wolfinger, Katie Hybl, Keller and Ducat.

Jones, Lampkowski and Hybl all major in biology. Keller is a psychology major.

Majoring in sport management is Bleikamp while Ducat is a criminal justice major.

Wolfinger is an accounting major.
