Softball Overwhelmed By Michigan-Dearborn

LIVONIA, Mich. -- The Siena Heights softball team dropped two WHAC games to Michigan-Dearborn on Saturday at Ladywood High School. The Saints lost game one with a final score of 4-1 and lost game two with a final score of 8-7.

In game one, the Saints jumped ahead early, putting one run up in the top of the third. Michigan-Dearborn would come back and score three runs in the bottom of the fourth and add one run in the bottom of the sixth.

Leading the Saints in game one was Kyndle Wolfinger and Katie Hybl getting the only two hits for SHU. Wolfinger had the only RBI scoring Hybl on her triple to center field. Lesley Ducat takes the loss in the circle throwing four innings. Her final line score is five hits, three runs, three earned runs, three walks and two strike outs.

In game two, the Wolverines jumped on the board first scoring one run in the bottom of the first. The Saints had a huge third inning scoring five runs. Cherry, Wolfinger, Ashley Best, Kelsie Abbott and Megan Jones all crossed the plate for SHU. Michigan-Dearborn came back and scored one run in the bottom half of the inning, giving SHU a 5-2 lead. The Wolverines came back and tied the game in the bottom of five. Kenya Keller drove in Kelsey Lampkowski in the top of the sixth, Michigan-Dearborn matched the run in the bottom of the sixth. The Saints jumped pushed one last run across the plate in the top of the seventh but were not able to hold Michigan-Dearborn.

Leading the offense for SHU in game two was Kelsey Cherry and Kris Forest, each with two hits and two RBIs. Wolfinger had three hits for Saints. Ducat takes the loss for game two. Her final line score is 2.2 innings pitched, five hits, three runs, two earned runs, four walks, three strike outs.

The Saints (23-19, 7-5) will return to action on Sunday, April 24, as they host a WHAC double-header against Lourdes (Ohio) starting at 1 p.m.!
