Saints Have Big Hits In Seventh Inning For Two Wins

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights softball team defeated Aquinas in the bottom of the seventh inning in both games. Game one had a final score of 6-5 and game two had a final of 7-6. 

In game one, the AQ Saints scored first in the third inning pushing three runs across. SHU got one run back in the bottom of four. AQ put another two runs on the board in the top of five, but the scoring ended there for Aquinas. The Saints put up two runs up in the bottom of six and had a huge seventh inning scoring three. Hannah Bleikamp had a walk off double driving in Kelsey Lampkowski and Kayla Boland

Offensively Bleikamp led the Saints with three runs and had three RBIs. Megan Jones and Kris Forest each had two hits. Lexi Agers and Jones each batted in one run. Arica Vasquez gets the win in the circle for SHU. She pitched 2.2 innings and gave up one hit and had two strike outs. 

In game two, Aquinas jumped ahead of SHU in the top of two, pushing two runs across on three hits. The Saints put three runs on the board in the bottom of the third inning with three hits. AQ tied the ball game up at the top of four scoring one run. Siena took the lead back in the bottom of five when they pushed two more runs across the plate. Aquinas scored three runs in the top of six before SHU tied the game at six all. Forest drove in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh for SHU. 

Offensively Abbott, Forest and Vasquez each had two hits. Abbott and Kelsey Cherry each had two RBIs. Vasquez takes the win for game two also, pitching 6.0 innings, giving up 10 hits, five runs, two of those being earned, three walks and had one strike out. 

The Saints return to action on Thursday, April 21, as they travel to Concordia for a WHAC double-header starting at 3:30 p.m.!
