Softball Shutsout Cornerstone

GRAND RAPDS, Mich. -- The Siena Heights softball team takes two wins today against Cornerstone. The Saints defeated the Golden Eagles 8-0 in six innings in game one and 7-0 in game two. 

In game one the Saints jumped on the board first in the top of the second inning when Megan Jones hit a bomb. SHU added two more runs in the fourth, four in the fifth and one in the top of six. 

Leading the offense for SHU was M. Jones with two hits and one RBI. Hannah Yadon and Hannah Bleikamp each drove in two runs. Lesley Ducat gets the shutout win in the circle. She gave up seven hits, two walks and had one strike out. The Saints played solid defense behind Ducat having no errors and turning a double play. 

In game two, SHU kept the momentum going from game one and pushed three runs across in the first inning and added one in the second when Kenya Keller hit a homerun. The Golden Eagles held the Saints scoreless for four innings until the Saints scored three runs in the top of seven. 

Bleikamp led the Saints with two hits and 2 RBIs. Sydney Sherry also drove in two runs for SHU. Kelsie Abbott takes the win for SHU in the circle throwing all seven innings. She gave up five hits, two walks and had four K's. 

The Saints (18-16, 4-2) will travel to No. 11 Davenport tomorrow, Apr. 17 for a WHAC double-header starting at noon.
