Softball Splits With Cleary

ADRIAN, MIch. -- The Siena Heights softball team split with Cleary on Tuesday. The Saints took game one winning 6-4 and the Cougars won game two with a score of 6-5.

In game one, Cleary jumped out to an early 4-0 lead scoring two runs in the top of the first and second. SHU pushed two runs across in the bottom of two when a long ball from Megan Jones. The Saints tied the game in the bottom of five and took the lead in the bottom of six when they put two more runs up.

Leading the Saints offense was Kelsie Abbott with two hits and two RBIs. Kelsey Cherry and Hannah Bleikamp each had two hits for SHU. Lesley Ducat gets the win in the circle throwing all seven innings. She gave up 12 hits, four runs, three of which were earned, one walk and had five strike outs.

In game two, SHU kept the hitting going and scored first. Cleary tied it up in the bottom of two with a home run and added three runs with a home run by Baumgartner in the third. The Cougars put up another two runs in the fourth. SHU battled back and scored one run in the fifth and two runs in the sixth. 

Abbott led the Saints in game two with another two hits and two RBIs. Kyndle Wolfinger had two hits also for SHU. Hannah Yadon drove in two runs for the Saints. Abbott takes the loss on the mound throwing 3.1 innings. She gave up seven hits, six runs, three earned runs, one walk and six strike outs.

The Saints (16-14) are back in action tomorrow against Madonna for a WHAC double-header starting at 3:30 p.m.
