Softball Not Able To Hold Off Calumet Saint Joseph

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights softball team dropped two games to Calumet Saint Joseph (Ind.) on Sunday at Christensen Field. The final score of game one was 5-1 and game two was 5-4.

In game one, SHU and CCSJ each had no runs through the first three innings. Calumet was the first to score, and they pushed three runs across in the top of four, and one more run in the fifth and sixth innings. SHU scored there only run in the bottom of the sixth.

Leading the SHU offense was Amy Nordstrom with two hits of the Saints seven. Skylar Crenshaw drove in the only run for the Saints. Lesley Ducat takes the loss in the circle. She pitched all seven innings, gave up six hits, five runs, and had two stike outs.

In game two, CCSJ (12-10) was the first to score in the top of the second, and another three in the top of the thrid. SHU rallied back and pushed two runs across in the bottom of three. The Saints pushed two more runs across in the bottom of four. Calumet scored the final run of the game in the top of seven and held the Saints in the bottom of the inning.

Leading the Saints offense was Kelsie Abbott with two hits and two RBIs. Olivia Smith gets the loss in the circle for game. She completed all seven innings, gave up 10 hits, five runs and had four strike outs.

Siena Heights (7-13) returns to action on Thursday, Mar. 24 as they travel to Saint Francis (Ill.). First pitch is set for 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
