Softball wraps up Arizona trip with another split

TUCSON, Ariz. - The Siena Heights softball team finished their spring trip to Arizona with another win and loss.  First, the Saints lost to Olivet Nazarene 11-2 and then rebounded with a 6-5 victory over Mount Marty.

Against Olivet Nazarene, the Saints found themselves down 6-0 before they plated their first two runs in the fourth inning.  Unfortunately, that was as far as the Saints comeback would go as they did not score again and ONU added a five more runs.

Megan Jones and Kris Forest both drove in runs for the Saints.  Kelsie Abbott and Forest both had two hits in the game for the Saints.  Lesley Ducat took the loss on the mound for the Saints.

In their second game, the Saints were able to fight their way to a lead and then hang on for the 6-5 victory over Mount Marty.  Siena Heights showed a little moxie after finding themselves down 2-0 after the first inning.  Then after tieing the game in the fifth inning the Saints gave the lead two run lead right back as Mount Marty scored two runs in the 6th.  Siena Heights answered that with a huge four run bottom of the sixth to take a 6-4 lead into the final inning.  Olivia Smith allowed just one run in the seventh to take home the win.

Smith pitched 1.1 innings in release of Abbott.  Abbott led the Saints offense going 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI.  Hailey Fox, Kenya Keller and Kyndle Wolfinger all drove in single runs for the Saints.

Siena Heights next action will be on March 16th when they play on the road at Spring Arbor.
