Three Saints Named Daktronics NAIA Scholar Athletes

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) released the 2022 Daktronics NAIA Men's Cross Country Scholar-Athletes on Monday. Concordia (Neb.), Taylor (Ind.), and Milligan (Tenn.) led the way with 11 honorees. Aquinas (Mich.) and Dordt (Iowa) finished a close second with 10.

The 2022 list features 467 student-athletes that achieved at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA) at their institution. In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year at said institution.

Earning the award for the Saints was:

Jacob Harberts (1st time), sophomore, criminal justice major from Dakota, Michigan

Nathanel Leupold (1st time), sophomore, engineering major from Adrian, Michigan

Jay Moore (3rd time), senior, environmental science major from Lapeer, Michigan

Coach Tim Bauer said, "These are great student-athletes and I am proud of them."
