NAIA Honors 2 Student Athletes and Men's Cross Country Team

The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the 2022 Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes and NAIA Scholar Team awards.  The Siena Heights Men's Cross Country Program had two student-athletes and their 2021-2022 team earn these distinctions.

In order to be nominated for the NAIA Scholar-Athlete, an individual must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport, and have attended two full years as a non-transfer or one full year as a transfer.

For a team to be awarded, they must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale for the academic year.  The Saints had the 6th highest team GPA among men's cross country teams in the NAIA and were the top men's cross country team GPA in the WHAC.

Earning the award for the Saints was:

Jay Moore (2nd time), senior, environmental science major and biology minor from Lapeer, Michigan

Jacob Sand (1st time), junior, pre-osteopathic major from Macomb, Michigan

The Saints team was honored with their 2nd NAIA Scholar Team Award with a 3.65 team GPA.  The award has been an honor for 15 years.
