Men's Volleyball Earns First Win of 2024 With Sweep Over Calvin

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's volleyball team earned its first win of the season with a 3-0 sweep over NCAA Division III Calvin in non-conference action on Friday.

Daniel Rua led the Saints' attack with 15 kills while Jakob Pickett and Marc Arsenault put down seven kills apiece.

Zak Tucker made 36 assists and two blocks. Rasi Bailey added two blocks.

Jacob Kisner led SHU (1-1) in digs with nine and Rua had seven.

The Saints never trailed after breaking a 2-2 tie in the first set, eventually closing the set on a 3-0 run.

SHU battled through nine tie scores in the second and ran past host Calvin with eight straight points, turning an 11-9 deficit into a 17-11 lead. RUa had three kills and Tucker set four assists in that stretch.

The Saints took command late in the third, finishing that set with a 6-2 run.

Siena Heights will return to action with its home opener on Wednesday when another D-III team, Olivet, visits the SHU Fieldhouse for a 7:30 p.m. start.
