Ahumada, Geibe End Inaugural Women's Wrestling Season at Nationals

JAMESTOWN, N.D. -- The Siena Heights women's wrestling team ended its inaugural season with two wrestlers at the NAIA Championships.

Valeria Ahumada, in the 109-pound weight class, and Bo Geibe (170) wrestled three matches each and earned victories on the mat Friday.

Geibe entered Nationals as the No. 10 grappler in her weight class. She took a fall in 5:33 over seventh-ranked Katelyn Lewis of Brewton-Parker, avenging a loss from earlier in the season.

Geibe then fell to No. 2 Joye Levendusky (Southern Oregon) in the quarterfinals, 10-0, and then to 12th-ranked Olivia Robinson of Eastern Oregon, 6-4.

Ahumada bounced back from a loss in her first match against second-ranked Mia Palumbo (Iowa Wesleyan). Ahumada lost via fall in 2:01.

After that, Ahumada took a fall over Avila's Markayla Lottie and then took a decision against Life's Kaycie Tanimoto (Texas Wesleyan), 7-5. Ahumada's day at Nationals came to an end when she fell to Life's Kory Phillips, 8-0.
