Men's Volleyball Answers Early Deficit for 3-1 Win

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's volleyball team won its second match in as many days over WHAC opponent St.-Mary-of-the-Woods on Saturday at the SHU Fieldhouse. The Saints won with set scores of 22-25, 25-20, 25-23, 25-21.

Marc Arsenault led the way for SHU (5-3, 3-3) with 19 kills and two aces while Jakob Pickett contributed 13 kills. Rasi Bailey added eight kills and Zak Tucker made 40 assists.

Also for the Saints, Tucker, Arsenault and Luke Anderson hit two aces each. Francesc Baza and Joudiel Poveymirow totaled 11 and 10 digs, respectively.

Siena Heights fell behind, 1-0, after opening set. The Saints trailed for much of the period before pulling into a 22-22 tie. The Pomeroys then ran off the final three points.

SHU took command in the second set, using a seven-point run to turn a 4-3 deficit into a 10-4 lead. Anderson served through that run; Tucker and Bailey had two kills each.

The Saints faced a 5-1 deficit in the third before clawing back. SHU broke a 23-23 tie with the final two points -- kills from Bailey and Arsenault.

In the fourth, the hosts jumped out to an early 8-4 lead and led the rest of the way.

The Pomeroys were led by Mark Zmojdzin, who totaled 14 kills.

Siena Heights will return to action on Monday with a 7:30 p.m. non-conference home contest against Campbellsville.
