Men's Volleyball Brooms Cross-Town Rival

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's volleyball team earned a 3-0 sweep in its shortest road trip of the season at cross-town rival Adrian.

Jakob Pickett and Marc Arsenault finished with 12 kills apiece as the Saints won with set scores of 25-15, 25-18, 25-22.

Zak Tucker added 23 assists and Francesc Baza recorded four total blocks. Rasi Bailey and Bernard Bell made three blocks each.

Beck Fieldhouse led the host Bulldogs (5-2) with nine kills. Andrew Gawrisch made 26 assists.

Siena Heights (3-2) opened the first set with an 11-4 run and, later, closed the set with another 11-4 stretch to take a 1-0 lead.

SHU never trailed in the second set, pulling away after the set's final tie at 4-4.

The Saints twice trailed by three in the third before pulling ahead with a 15-6 run. That left SHU with a 20-14 edge. Adrian pulled within two points on three occasions after that before Siena Heights finished off the contest.

SHU will return to action on Tuesday with a 7 p.m. WHAC match Cornerstone.
