Saints Cruise Past Cornerstone

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's volleyball team defeated Cornerstone in straight sets on the road Friday night. Alex Garavalia led the team with 11 kills.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Saints controlled the match throughout winning with 13, 11, and 12 kills in the first three sets. Siena recorded a match-high .423 hitting percentage in the first set while blanking the Golden Eagles in the percentage category in the match. 

SHU scored 19 of the first 22 points of the first set on the way to a dominating 25-12 win for the 1-0 lead. The second set was closer as Cornerstone pulled things to 18-17 before the Saints rattled off a 6-0 run for the 24-17 lead before claiming the 2-0 lead with a 25-18 decision. The Golden Eagles tied the score in the third at 11 before the Saints used three 3-0 runs to pull away and seal the win.

TOP SAINTS

• Garavalia hit .556 for the match to lead the Saints to the win.

Kevin Gomez totaled nine kills and six digs.

Keegan Crawford finished with 28 assists and five digs.

THE OPPOSITION

• Logan Chagdes led Cornerstone with six kills.

• Cade Meza led defensively with seven digs.
