Men's Volleyball Downed 3-1 at Lourdes

SYLVANIA, Ohio -- The Siena Heights men's volleyball was downed 3-1 on the road against Lourdes on Tuesday night. Bryce Johnson led the attack with 13 kills in the loss.

THE BASICS

Final Score: Lourdes 3, Siena Heights 1 (21-25, 25-17, 25-21, 25-18)

Location: Sylvania, Ohio (Ebeid Rec Center)

Records: Lourdes (10-1, 8-1 WHAC), Siena Heights (7-5, 3-4 WHAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED

The score remained close in the first set up to a 17-15, Lourdes lead. The Saints used a 5-0 run to move ahead 21-18 before scoring four of the final five points to take the 1-0 lead.

The Grey Wolves led through the second, pulling away 23-16 before knotting the score at 1-1 with a 25-17 decision.

Much like the first set, the third was close with neither team pulling away by more than a few points. SHU was within two points of tying the score, 22-20 when the home team kept the advantage to snag the 2-1 edge.

Again, the Saints proved they could play with their ranked opponents in the fourth by remaining just a few points from Lourdes for much of the set. With a 22-18 lead, the Grey Wolves rattled off three-straight to take the set and the match.

TOP SAINTS

• Johnson finished with a .222 hitting percentage while adding eight digs and a block to his stats.

Keegan Crawford tallied 26 assists, one kill, and three blocks to his totals.

Joudiel Poveymirow led the defense with 19 digs.

THE OPPOSITION

• Jeff Lam led with a match-high 18 kills.

• Guga Heidrich totaled 18 digs.
