Emilier De Jesus Named Finalist in the Inaugural Off the Block/Molten NAIA Men's Volleyball National Awards

Siena Heights junior Emilier De Jesus was named one of three finalists at the libero position for the inaugural Off the Block/Molten NAIA Men's Volleyball National Awards. The Off the Block blog announced the finalists for the national awards on Tuesday (April 16).

Off the Block is a national award-winning website and is the nation's leader in college men's volleyball coverage. Molten is the official volleyball supplier of the NAIA and is the 2019 sponsor of the NAIA Men's Volleyball National Awards.

De Jesus finished the season with 323 digs (3.47 digs/set) to lead the Saints in that category. He was named WHAC defensive player of the week and NAIA defensive player of the week once this season. He was an integral part of the SHU men's volleyball team qualifying for the WHAC postseason tournament and was named the conference libero of the year along with a selection to the All-WHAC second team. He joins Skyler Capllonch from Missouri Baptist and Joudiel Poveymirow from Campbellsville on the Off the Block/Molten NAIA Libero of the Year finalist list.

Each of the five awards will recognize the most outstanding NAIA player at their position (Setter, Outside Attacker, Opposite, Middle Attacker, Libero) during the regular season. These awards will be the first position-based national awards in the history of NAIA men's volleyball.

About 15 NAIA head coaches are members of the voting committee for the awards. The three players at each position that received the most votes were announced as the 15 finalists. The student-athlete who receives the most votes will be named the award winner at their respective position. The announcement of the winners will take place April 23-26 on the Off the Block blog.
