HOW IT HAPPENED

Siena's defense was solid in the opening set as the Maple Leafs were held to just seven kills while producing seven attack errors for a team hitting percentage of zero in a 25-13 loss. The Saints hit .300 as a team in the first set with Emmanuel Chaidez leading the attack with four kills to propel Siena to the 1-0 lead.

The second went a similar way as the first with Goshen only tallying six kills, however, the Maple Leafs were able to keep the score close as each team traded points through the middle chunk of the second which contributed to 10 tie scores during the game. A 6-0 run by SHU that gave the Saints a 24-17 lead proved to be the difference as Siena built a 2-0 lead.

A 5-0 run at the beginning of the third game allowed Siena to jump to a 7-2 lead. The lead grew steadily throughout the game, first to eight points before settling at 10 at 19-9 in favor of the Saints. Goshen cut the lead to seven but the advantage was too great as Siena ended the match with a 25-14 decision. The home team hit a staggering .762 as a team in the final set to cruise to the victory.
