KANSAS CITY -- Siena Heights men's volleyball junior Emilier De Jesus was named the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) men's volleyball defensive player of the week after he was named the WHAC defensive player of the week on Monday. 

The Chesterton, Indiana native led the Saint defense during the SHU men's volleyball tournament this weekend. He had a team-high in digs in the matches against Lincoln (Ill.) (24 digs, 4.8 digs/set) and Morningside (Iowa) (22 digs, 7.33 digs/set) on his way to a tournament total of 62 digs in the four matches played. He also tallied seven service aces including five in the match against Goshen in a 3-0 win. He was instrumental in Siena's 3-1 record for the tournament and was named to the all-tournament team for his performance.

De Jesus adds this honor to his collegiate resume for the first time in his career.

The team returns to action this Saturday, March 23 with a WHAC home match against Goshen starting 3:00 p.m. EDT.
