Men's Volleyball Falls 3-1 to #7 Lourdes

SYLVANIA, Ohio – The Siena Heights men's volleyball team fell 3-1 to No. 7 Lourdes (Ohio) in the conference-opener, on Wednesday. After winning the first set 25-22 the Saints fell 21-25, 20-25 and 20-25 in the final three sets.

Leading the Saints with 14 kills was Matthew Dugan, also adding 13 digs. Tyler Hubbard-Neil tallied 11 kills for the Saints and three service aces.

Keegan Crawford earned 31 assists in the four sets of action along with 5 digs. Libero Emilier DeJesus made 17 digs for the Saints.

Lourdes was led by R. Maune and C. Magorien with 15 and 13 kills, respectively, Magorien adding 13 digs. I. Fields finished the match with 52 assists while C. Rilveria earned 25 digs.

SET ONE -- Siena Heights 25, Lourdes 22

The Saints came out quick against the Gray Wolves with a 7-3 lead that would hold for the remainder of the game. SHU held a 24-18 lead when Lourdes went on a four point run, but the Saints held on.

SET TWO – Lourdes 25, Siena Heights 21

Siena Heights again took the early lead 6-4 before and again at 10-9, their final lead of the set. Lourdes eventually went up 15-11, a four point lead the Saints were unable to overcome.

SET THREE – Lourdes 25, Siena Heights 20

Lourdes went up 4-1 before the Saints called a timeout. SHU fell behind 14-7 before beginning to comeback. The Saints came within two, 20-18, before the Gray Wolves eventually claimed the third set.

SET FOUR – Lourdes 25, Siena Heights 20

The Gray Wolves took the early lead, 7-4, over SHU before the Saints tied it up 8-8. LU quickly bounced back until SHU came within one point, 14-13. Lourdes went on an eight-point unanswered run, the Saints unable to respond.

Siena Heights will return to conference action on Saturday when the Saints travel to Lawrence Tech for a 7 p.m. contest.
