Men's Volleyball Takes Two of Three at RMU Quad

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. -- The Siena Heights men's volleyball team won two of its three matches during a quad-match at Robert Morris (Ill.) on Saturday.

The Saints fell to host RMU, 3-0, in NAIA Great Lakes Division competition before two non-conference victories: 3-1 over Calumet Saint Joseph (Ind.) and 3-2 against Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.).

Against Robert Morris, the Saints lost sets by scores of 25-19, 25-19, 25-22.

Gilius Blinstrubas had 12 kills and Arthur Mattje Gwoszdz finished with 20 assists for SHU. Also, Zak Krug made 10 digs.

Versus Calumet, the Saints dropped the opening set, 25-22, but bounced back with wins of 25-14, 25-18, 25-17.

Zach Haube finished with 11 kills and Kenny Brokaw came through with 10. Also, Gwoszdz finished with five total blocks, Haube made four total blocks and Krug came through with 17 digs.

In the five-set match against H-L, the Saints took a two-set lead with 26-24 and 25-23 set victories before H-L answered with wins of 26-24 and 25-20. SHU then won the deciding set, 15-13.

Blinstrubas, Tyler Hubbard-Neil and Lance Blough had 17, 12 and 11 kills, respectively. Gwoszdz added 40 assists and Blough made five total blocks.

The Saints (5-6, 3-4) will be in action next on Tuesday, Feb. 24, when they host cross-town rival Adrian for a 7:30 p.m. non-conference contest.
