Brandon Lewis joins the Siena Heights coaching staff as the Associate Head Cross Country/Track & Field Coach in 2023-24. A native of Kansas, Lewis has more than five years of coaching experience, and has coached at a variety of levels, from middle school to collegiate running.

Individually, Brandon has coached his athletes to 45 Top-10 finishes at championship meets, including five conference champions and two regional champions. He has also helped his student-athletes experience similar success as a team. Over the last five years, his teams have placed highly at several championship meets, resulting in six championship titles (four conference and two regional), as well as a second-place and third-place finish at the Kansas state high school cross country meet for the boys team and girls team, respectively.

While Brandon started his career in coaching, he pursued higher education at Wichita State University and diversifying his knowledge in the realm of health and fitness. During his first two years of coaching, Brandon earned his Master’s Degree in Exercise Science which allowed him to gain real world and clinical-lab experience on top of his classroom time. Brandon also spent time working in Physical Therapy clinics as a full time technician. There, he was able to both observe and help with patient rehab for a multitude of injuries and surgeries.

As a student-athlete, Brandon attended Wichita State. There, he would contribute to the team as both a conference athlete as well as a Cross Country Regional NCAA Division I qualifier. Brandon unfortunately suffered a few injuries during his time as a student-athlete as well. However, he was able to turn his own injuries into lessons and he attributes his successful coaching results to those lessons. He claims that the time he spent injured helped him further explore and understand the art and nuances of coaching, as well as how to create a program that reduces injury risk and provides consistency and longevity in his athletes’ careers.
