Gipple Improves on Provisional Long Jump Mark at Saginaw

SAGINAW, Mich. -- Long jumper Matthew Gipple won his event and improved on his previous-best NAIA provisional-qualifying mark as the Siena Heights men's indoor track and field team competed at the Saginaw Valley Classic.

Gipple stretched 2.07 meters (23 feet, 2 1/2 inches), an improvement of of 0.07m (6 3/4 inches) over his previous season-best.

Savion Tyler also topped the podium for SHU with a height of 1.98m (6-6) in the high jump. Teammate Roman Iott followed in sixth at 1.78m (5-10).

Siena Heights had runners finish 2-3-4 in the 600-meter run. Blake Schroeder was runner-up in 1:24.41 while Jacob Buchanan took third in 1:25.64 and Tyler Landis finished fourth in 1:26.35. Nethanel Leupold placed ninth in 1:32.39.

SHU pole vaulters placed 4-5-6, led by Logan Hollingsworth, who cleared 4.15m (13-7 1/4). Caleb Greear (fifth) and Alan Alston (sixth) had top heights of 4.00m (13-1 1/2).

Donovan Miller ran to fifth in the 400 with a time of 52.47 seconds and Calvin Randolph was fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 11.92m (39-1 1/4).

Other Top-10 finishers included Jordan Harris, eighth in the shot put (13.56m, 44-6); Elijah Collins, ninth in the shot put (13.24m, 43-5 1/4); and Collins, 10th in the weight throw (13.90m, 45-7 1/4).
