Cunningham Wins Jav, Autos in 110 Hurdles as Men's T&F Opens Outdoor Season

EAST LANSING, Mich., and SPRING ARBOR, Mich. -- Noah Cunningham won the javelin and hit an NAIA Championships automatic qualifer in the 110-meter hurdles as the Siena Heights men's outdoor track and field team opened its season on Friday and Saturday.

The Saints competed at two events over the weekend: the Spartan Invitational at Michigan State and the Bill Bippes Cougar Classic at Spring Arbor.

At Michigan State, Cunningham registered a winning distance of 53.61 meters (175 feet, 11 inches) in the javelin. Teammate Jonah Siekmon placed runner-up with a throw of 47.13m (154-7).

Cunningham clocked in at 14.29 seconds in the 110 hurdles to earn his ticket in the event to NAIA Outdoor Nationals.

Matthew Gipple had a pair of Top 3 finishes at MSU, taking second in the long jump with a 7.09m (23-3 1/4) and third in the 100 with a 10.90s.

Savion Tyler finished third in the high jump with a 1.89m (6-2 1/4).

At Spring Arbor, thrower Jefferson Edwards had fourth-place finishes in the shot put and discus. His shot distance was 14.04m (46-0 3/4) and his discus toss was 40.15m (131-9).
