Gipple, 4x800 Relay Earn Ninth-Place Finishes at NAIA Indoor Championships

BROOKINGS, S.D. -- The Siena Heights men's indoor track and field team has a pair of ninth-place finishes through two days at the NAIA Championships.

Matthew Gipple finished ninth in the long jump, barely missing All-American status, while the 4x800-meter relay squad placed ninth and barely missed the finals.

Gipple stretched 7.12 meters (23 feet, 4 1/2 inches) in the long jump. He also placed 33rd in the 60-meter dash in 6.97 seconds.

SHU's 4x800 team consisted of Tyler Landis, Abdullah Nassr, Jacob Harberts and Cedric Grant. The foursome had a time of 7:43.95, finishing less than two seconds behind the eighth-place team in prelims.

Nassr also ran the 600, finishing 21st in 1:29.33.

Noah Cunningham was 13th in the 60 hurdles with a time of 8.30 seconds and Jefferson Edwards took 32nd in the weight throw with a distance of 15.75 meters (51-8 1/4).

The NAIA Championships will finish on Saturday.
