SHU Men’s Field Athletes Compete at GVSU Last Chance

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – A few field athletes from the Siena Heights men's track and field team competed at the Grand Valley State University 10 Even-Last Chance Meet held on Tuesday, May 10.

Davion Curry led the way for the Saints with a win in the triple jump event after a leap of 13.69m. Curry was also second in the long jump with a mark of 6.94m. Noah Cunningham was second in the javelin with a throw of 51.55m while Jonah Siekmon finished behind Cunningham in third with a throw of 46.68m.

Zachary Gipple finished third in the shot put with an A-Standard throw of 16.65m. His brother Matthew Gipple was fourth in the javelin with a toss of 46.23m and the long jump with a mark of 6.81m.

Timothy Werner placed sixth in the pole vault after clearing the bar at a B-Standard 4.70m height. Jefferson Edwards finished seventh in the discus with a throw of 43.11m, eighth in the shot put with a toss of 14.55m, and 10th in the hammer with a 47.39m. Zachary Gipple was eighth in the discus with a 42.47m. Alan Alston placed ninth in the pole vault with a clearance of 4.40m.

Select members of the Saints will compete again tomorrow at North Central College for another shot at qualifying for the NAIA National Championships at the end of the month.
