SHU Men's Track and Field Participate in Elaine Leigh Invitational

ROCHESTER, Mich. –  Siena Heights men's track and field competed in the two-day Elaine Leigh Track and Field Invite hosted by Oakland University. SHU had 16 top-ten finishes during the competition earning a seventh-place team finish with 66 total points, just one point behind sixth-place Detroit Mercy.

Davion Curry earned first placemarks in the long jump, leaping 7.07 meters and jumping 13.89 meters in the triple jump event. Timothy Werner placed second overall in the pole vault, flying for a height of 4.27 meters. Zachary Gipple earned both an NAIA A and B standard with his second-place performance in the shot-put event with a final throw of 16.35 meters.

SHU held three of the top ten finishes in the javelin, with Noah Cunningham in second, throwing a distance of 51.07 meters, Jonah Siekmon in sixth with a heave of 44.38 meters, and Matthew Gipple in tenth with a distance of 37.19 meters. The 4x100 team of Davion Curry, Noah Cunningham, Cherrard Cohen, and Matthew Gipple placed third overall with a time of 41.93 seconds. Matthew Gipple came in third place in the Long Jump, leaping a distance of 7.04 meters. Matthew Gipple also placed fourth in the 100-meter race with a time of 10.85 seconds.

The 1500-meter race with 3:57.35. Sebastian Hamilton also earned two top-ten marks, finishing ninth in the shot put with a throw of 13.75 meters and seventh in the hammer, heaving for a distance of 48.90 meters. Jefferson Edwards claimed the tenth placemark in the shot put, throwing a distance of 13.72 meters.
