SHU Men's Track and Field take 1st in Don Kleinow Memorial Invitational

ADRIAN, Mich. -  For the first time in four years, Siena Heights track and field team hosted the Don Kleinow Memorial Invitational. Competing on Thursday, April 14th, the men's track and field team earned a first-place finish with 144.5 total points. SHU finished the day earning six first-place marks, three B Standards, and two A Standards. 

Freshman Jacob Harberts claimed first place in the 1500 meter with a time of 4:18.61. Competing in the 400 hurdles, Jacob Sand earned the first-place mark with a total time of 58.08 seconds. The team of Abdullah Nassr, Joshua Cundy, Cedric Grant, and Davion Curry clinched first in the 4x800, holding a finishing time of 3:28.79. Timothy Werner saw action in the pole vault event, where he placed first with a height of 4.40 meters. 

Zachary Gipple earned both an A and B Standard in the shot-put competition, where he heaved a distance of 7.16 meters to claim first place. In the Javelin event, Noah Cunningham earned both an A and B Standard throwing for a distance of 57.14 meters to place second overall. Matthew Gipple claimed first place in the long jump with his B standard performance leaping 7.16 meters.

Siena had three athletes finish in the top five of the 800-meter race. Joshua Cundy came in second running with a time of 1:59.39, Jacob Harberts finished third one second behind at 2:00.47, and Cedric Grant earned fourth with a time of 2:01.02. Running the 10,000-meter was Liam Hartsuff finished with a total time of 33:12.74 to claim second place. The team of Davion Curry, Noah Cunningham, Cherrard Cohen, and Matthew Gipple placed second overall in the 4x100 relay coming in at 43.44 seconds. Davion Curry claimed second in the long jump with a leap of 7.06 meters as well as the triple jump, where he totaled 13.30 meters.

Sebastian Hamilton competed in the shot put, finishing third overall with a throw of 14.06 meters. Jefferson Edwards earned third place in the shot-put event tossing for a distance of 45.66 meters. The javelin event saw two more top-five finishes, the first coming from Matthew Gipple who threw 50.62 meters to earn third place, and Jonah Siekmon who placed fifth with 44.13 meters. The Hammer throw competition saw Jefferson Edwards claim third with a 45.66-meter throw, and Sebastian Hamilton finished fifth with a toss of 44.57 meters. Davion Curry earned a fourth-place finish in the high jump with a height of 1.79 meters. Running the 110 hurdles, Noah Cunningham placed fifth overall with a time of 16.37 seconds. Alan Alston claimed a fifth-place finish in the pole vault event flying a height of 3.95 meters.
