Zachary Gipple Earns NAIA All-American in Shot Put

Brookings, South Dakota – On the third and final day of the NAIA National Championships, the Siena Heights Saints had two athletes competing, Zachary Gipple and Davion Curry.

Zachary Gipple saw action in the Shot-Put event on Saturday, March 5th at 2:00 PM. Gipple heaved a toss of 17.00 meters earning the title of NAIA All-American with a finishing place of fourth overall, just 0.14 shy of taking third. The Coldwater, Michigan native also set a new PR (Personal Record) besting, his record of 16.72 meters.

Davion Curry participated in the Triple-Jump event setting a new PR. Leaping, a total of 14.23 meters, an increase of 0.03 over his record of 14.20 meters. Curry placed fifteenth overall in the competition.

SHU wrapped up the 2021-22 indoor season and looks forward to starting the outdoor season later this month.
