The First Day of the WHAC Championships lead to Second Place Finish for SHU

Grand Rapids, MICH. ---Siena Heights Men's Indoor Track and Field compete in date one of the WHAC Indoor Championships, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Friday, February 18th. The Saints finished second overall on the day with a score of, 57.5 points falling to Indiana Tech who took first with a total of 70 points.

The Blue and Yellow had three first-place finishes in the long jump, 4x800 meter race, and the shot put. Zachary Gipple finished first in the shot put for SHU with a throw of 16.72 meters he was followed by teammate Jefferson Edwards heaving a distance of 14.47 meters and Sebastian Hamilton who tossed a total of 14.18 meters. Davion Curry took home the first place mark in the long jump with a distance of 7.10 meters. While the team of Abdullah Nassr, Jacob Harberts, Cedric Grant, and Joshua Cundy placed first in the men's 4x800 meter race with a finishing time of 7:55.96

Noah Cunningham and Cherrad Cohen also placed in the 60-meter dash in thirteenth and twenty-fifth place. Pole vault saw two top-five finishes for the Saints, in third was Timothy Weener with a jump of 4.35m and Alan Alston in fifth lipping 4.05 meters. The 5,000 meters saw a fifth-place mark by Liam Hartsuff running 15:39.79. The Weighted throw resulted in three top twenty marks for Siena Heights. Jefferson Edwards held the top score for SHU with a toss of 15.26 meters, while Sebastian Hamilton took 8th with 14.76 while Jordan Harris placed sixteenth throwing 11.30m.
