2nd place for SHU in Hillsdale Wide Track Open

Hillsdale, Mich. – On Friday, January 28th Siena Heights University Men's Track and Field competed in the Hillsdale Wide Track Open. Taking place in 10 events the Saints had 27 top 10 finishes by athletes, five of which were first place. Leading the blue and yellow to round up the day with a second-place victory, topping four other teams.

Zachary Gipple threw a distance of 15.59meters to clinch first in the men's shot put, Jefferson Edwards, took second with 13.15m and Gage Robinson finished third with 11.13m; allowing Siena Heights a complete top-three sweep in the event. Davion Curry also took home a first-place spot in the long jump, with a jump of 6.67m, and first place in the triple jump with a distance of 12.92m. Jefferson Edwards added to his day by taking first in the weighted throw event by chucking a span of 15.92m.

The Saints placed in every top four spots within the men's 600-meter run with Abdullah Nassr taking first with a run of 1:23.96, Andrew Milosavlevski coming in second with 1:26.50, Joel Kosko in third having 1:27.15, and Jacob Sand finishing it off with a total time of 1:29.312. SHU continued forward with second place in the pole vault by Timothy Werner who heaved a distance of 4.48m. A third-place final for Liam Hartsuff in the 5,000-meter run coming in at 16:04.14, Siena Heights also placed sith and seventh in this event. Noah Cunningham also rounded out the day with a third-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.84. While Joshua Cundy took third as well in the 800-meter run coming in at 59.20.

SHU took fourth in the weighted throw thanks to Gage Robinson who threw 10.24m and fourth in the 800-meter with the help of Jacob Harberts. Jordan Harris finished fifth in the weighted throw with a distance of 9.33m. The Saints placed seventh and eighth in the men's one-mile as well to end the day with a total of 88 points.
