Men's Track and Field Finishes 2nd at Hillsdale Open

HILLSDALE, Mich. -- Siena Heights University finishes 2nd overall in Hillsdale Open on Saturday, January 22nd, with an overall team score of 94. SHU had 34 total top-five finishes on the day with three 1st place finishers.

Zachary Gipple led the way with a first-place finish in Men's Shot Put with a final throwing distance of 16.11 meters, earning an A Grade. Jefferson Edwards also placed first in Weight Throws, with a distance of 15.81 meters. Edwards also came in third for the Shot Put finals. The third Siena Heights athlete to place in first was Davion Curry, who jumped 6.59 meters beating the second-place jumper by 0.14 meters, Curry also finished second in the Triple Jump.

With eight-second place finishes, Sebastien Hamilton chucked a distance of 15.64m in the Weight Throw and 14.42 in Shot Put, finishing second in both. Jason Baird ended with a time of 9.10 in the 60 Hurdles, just .20 seconds behind first place. In the 800 Meter Cedric Grant rounded out the day with 2:00.75, to take second. Noah Cunningham placed second overall in the 200 Meter Finals with a count of 22.09 for a time.

Timothy Werner clinched third in Pole Vault with a height of 4.33 meters. While the 4X400 relay team of Jacob SandCedric GrantJoshua Cundy, and Abdullah Nassr, pulled out a third-place finish with a time of 3:31.63.Jacob Harbert managed to place third in the Men's Mile with an overall time of 4:28.64 and third in the 800 Meter with a final of 2:01.76. Jacob Sand also achieved third place within the 400 Meter coming in at 52.61. Cherrard Cohen placed third overall in the 60 Meter final with a total time of 7.25.
